Introduction

Many centuries ago this area was populated by alans - ancient nation or sarmats, famous for their powerful and noble warriors , ancestors of many people of Caucasus. Now you can travel through the land of ancient alans – one of the most beautiful places of North Caucasus . It runs on the highest mountain roads of Russia which used to be open by now only to the locals and individual tourists. '' Alan way '' requires respect to customs and traditions of inhabitants, and mandatory compliance expeditionary and ecological discipline. In return you will touch to a great history of Caucasus world, enjoy the beauty of its intact nature, and you will keep in your heart part of proud and hospitable soul of Caucasus people.

You will visit gorges and valleys, glaciers and waterfalls, sanctuary Recom, ancient settlements Eltubu, old fortresses and towers, mysterious Cities of the dead . To see Caucasus and visit its remote cantons, you can easily overpass difficult routes on specially customized vehicles

 

Itinerary

Mineralnye Vody - Kislovodsk - Baksan Gorge - Cheget - Chegem waterfalls - Eltubu - Bezengi - Upper Balkaria - Haznidon - Pyatigorsk - Mineralnye-Vody

An adventurous journey through North Caucasus

 

Day 1 KISLOVODSK (60 km )

On arrival in Mineralnye Vody airport you will meet our representative and depart for the city, Kislovodsk. Before a welcome dinner, have some time to settle down, have a guided walk, visit the resort park and souvenir shops. Overnight at 3* hotel.

 

Day 2 BAKSAN GORGE (200km)

Your journey begins after breakfast on special SUV through magnificent, breathtaking, tract Dzhilu-Su with healing properties. Explore 40m waterfall ''Sultan'', swim in silver baths, lunch at the famous meadow, where almost 200 years ago General Emmanuel organized the fist expedition of climbers on Mount Elbrus (1829). Spend the night at the 3* hotel wonderfully located in a pine forest

 

Day 3 CHEGEM WATERFALL (100km)

You will have breakfast in the hotel. After that you will ascend to the foot of Mount Cheget to witness a splendid view of the - Two-headed Elbrus (5642m ) - the highest point of Caucasus and Europe. After 2 hours active leisure on pure mountain air and an incredible photo session against the background of mountain wildlife, you will stop for lunch at a local cafe to enjoy traditional food: shurpa ,balker hychiny ,laghman and fresh vegetables. You will then begin to descend along a rocky ridge to the Chegem gorge to see the legendary Chegem waterfalls. There is also the market of craftswomen, where knitted items and animal skins are sold. Overnight at Eltubu camp, you can enjoy the romantic atmosphere of a summer night in the mountains under myriad unusually close sky stars. Extreme fans can see the beauty of the Caucasus with a bird's eye view during an air walk on a paraglide (for an additional fee).

 

Day 4 ELTUBU(50km)

You will take an early drive to one of the most beautiful and mysterious places- ancient Balcarian village Eltubu. Before lunch admire the most impressive sights of this place such as the Tower of love, Rock of Shame and the remains of Greek temples. You will have lunch in the village '' Miracle of Russia " which was named so in 2009, and get a chance to meet with inhabitants who will talk about their customs and traditions and the national cuisine chummage. The day ends in Bezengi alpine camp, located at 2,200m altitude on the slope of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Ridge. You will enjoy a dinner and a visit to the Balcar Culture Museum. You will spend the night in huts with all necessary amenities. For those who wish to visit a Russian ''banya'' they can do so for an extra cost.

 

Day 5 BEZENGI (50km)

This morning discover the spectacular view of the longest glacier in the Caucasus . Explore the Bezengi Wall. Along the crest are located the highest peaks of the Central Caucasus .After lunch, continue the route in the direction to the picturesque Circassian valley, most famous for its Blue lakes. For the night you will stay in comfortable tents at an altitude of 3000m, near the ancient Alan sanctuary, with stunning views of the mountain range. Enjoy dinner and pleasant conversations around the campfire.

 

Day 6 UPPER BALCARIA (60km)

You will start an enchanting drive to the village Upper Balcaria, where you will visit numerous monuments of ancient architecture .During lunch you will have the opportunity to see a colorful concert arranged by residents. You will spend the afternoon at your own leisure, before your farewell dinner. For the night you will stay in Haznidon camp. You can go horse-riding for additional fee.

 

Day 7 HAZNIDON (200 km)

Over the next few hours relax and enjoy the stroll along Haznidon gorge, which is considered one of the most beautiful places of the Caucasus. You will have one last lunch amongst the breathtaking scenery. After that we will return to the city, Pyatigorsk which is famous for its mineral spring’s .You will then be transferred to the airport for your return flight or alternatively you can stay longer for an additional fee to discover the Pyatigorsk town.
